The Sanguinetti House

A simple house in
adobe style was the home
of a pioneer.

~ carliewired

Eugene Francis Sanguinetti (1867-1945) arrived in Yuma as a teenager and stayed to become an energizing, creative and accomplished businessman. This modest adobe, built in the 1870s became his home in 1890. Just two rooms with a lean-to kitchen, it has stood the test of time. He married late in life and raised 3 children here as the city of Yuma came into its own.

Today, the house serves as a museum in the city's old downtown. There are gardens and aviaries at the back. (No birds to be seen there today) Part of the interior serves to demonstrate the furnishings of the time (kitchen, living rooms). There is a recent video that gives an overview of the history of Yuma. (excellent!)
