The Battle of the Hummers
Staking a claim on
the feeders, defending one's
tree, clicking, darting
~ carliewired
The hummingbird feeders have been up for a week. The hummers are here as part of their migratory cycle. I think we have female rufous hummingbirds all competing for territory and the available feeders. They really challenge one another with swooping and clicking and squeaking. Like last year, the orange tree seems to be a desirable roost. Last year a baby was born and raised right in that very tree. Perhaps we could be so lucky again. See the baby hummer here.
