Life through the lens...

The last stop.

A collage to finish. ( again seen best large)

Last stop as always is Brancaster Staithe.
(Staithe is a Norse word, it means a landing stage for loading and unloading cargo boats)

Top right and bottom left, the tide out.

Top left the real camera men!
Couldn't resist this shot, taken from the car, with my little pocket Lumix!
Don't think they are blippers!

Bottom right is the mussel man.
This is a very old way of riddling the mussels to wash off the mud,and grade them for size. The smaller ones fall through and are returned to the lays.before they go into tanks to purify them.
It certainly looks hard work!
These aren't farmed on ropes, but grown naturally on the beds out in the bay.
That's why they taste so good.See here

Called in at Adnams for the dessert wine to go with the Christmas pudding.
It comes from the Greek island of Samos. where vines have been grown for thousands of years.
The first time we have had a wine from Greece.
(can I wait until Christmas?!)

Also collected the pheasants and partridge, ( for the freezer) and Mr C bought his 4 packs of kindling.(Much cheaper than up here!)

Brought home some fish cakes from Burnham Market for tea, along with their Dill mayo.
Also bought some Kiln roast salmon and dill pate, which we had in sandwiches for lunch, at Brancaster.

Now home after a very memorable and enjoyable holiday.
Washer on already!
Fire roaring away.
Glass of wine poured!

Always good to be home!
