Fallen Oak, Warnham

As I leave work earlier on a Friday and it being reasonably clear, I was able to go on a little circular walk at Warnham. My walk goes out from the village centre westwards in a loop and includes a reasonable hill which offers views to the distant South Downs. Once I neared the top of the hill, I saw that one of the isolated Oak trees that marked a former hedgeline had been brought down in the storm on 28th October. On closer inspection it was clear that the roots were absolutely rotten, although the tree had appeared healthy on the outside in the summer, it clearly wasn't inside!
