Krakow
Poland with Mum! Stayed in a wonderful hotel near the Jewish quarter, and spent today wandering around the old town in the centre... stumbled into a lot of amber shops, which along with flint, or 'Polish diamond', is an incredibly popular stone! Almost bought a ring in a market but found mum a more reasonably priced necklace instead! And fawned over how cheap everything is, obviously.
Hot chocolate in 'Karmello', which had some incredible varieties of chocolate (in many temperatures), including onion pralines and salt and pepper chocolate blocks. Also a curry one but we decided we weren't that adventurous. Of course we had to buy a sample to take home!
By the end of the day we were so tired out we decided to just eat at the hotel, which as it turned out had just opened their new restaurant and their food, including 'Polish fusion', was incredible. I'll detail: a Polish martini (apple and honey-y); grilled sheep's cheese and berry compote salad; salmon with orange sauce, roasted potatoes and salad; and lavender crème brûlée which was to die for. And the best part? £14 for each of us!
Knackered.
