Salt N Shake
My mum; dad and I went up to the butchers today and my mum was on top form, having a good old banter with the staff. We then went into the bakers next door and when my mum was talking to the woman behind the counter she mentioned that it was my dad's birthday and the woman asked his age. She then answered he is 83 but I'm younger than him, she said in the next sentence it was then laughs all round again.
After we got back to my mums I said to my dad are you going to have a wee drink for your birthday and he said I might have a wee rum, I looked at my mum and she just rolled her eyes so that says it all. My dad has never had a drink at the weekend since he had pneumonia in January and I think my mum must be missing it.
Cheryl, Gavin and I are now sitting watching children in need and Scotland v USA with a beer and a glass of wine. My dad was on the phone thanking us for his present but he never did say if he had that rum or not. I remember at lunch time today the song I sang to him, 83 today, 83 today, I've got the key of the door, never been 83 before. It was great to see the smile on his face and after what happened in January, it's a blessing he's here at all.
The blip today you may think would have been one of my dad, but unfortunately I forgot to take his photograph. I'm now sitting here with Cheryl and Gavin and I stuck the camera lens into my bowl of crisps and I quite liked the result, hope you like it too. My Dad's favourite crisps are salt-n-shake.
