Quebec

We are booked in to the Chateau Frontenac for two nights (it’s the tall building on the left of the picture), a very impressive, oldie world, posh looking place!! They are undergoing renovations in some parts of the hotel, but it’s not obvious inside as the place is huge, only on the outside of the building. Some of their restaurants are closed, so we had breakfast in cute little place next door. I’d completely forgotten that French is the main language, so a bit of thought and sign language is helpful.

Having sat for soooo many hours yesterday we spent hours walking along the Governor’s Promenade, past the Citadel and on to the Plains of Abraham. I remember a bit about this area from history lessons a long…time ago, so we viewed the exhibitions at the Discovery Pavilion. A thought that came to mind was “think the unexpected" or "watch your back”.

We wandered round the upper part of the Old City before having hot chocolate and a pastry for lunch, a rest back at the hotel, before a second walkabout in the afternoon. We had missed the snow whilst in doors. Rather than eat out as it was getting very cold, we had dinner in the hotel. Good food, poor service and a hell of a price!! Well you only do this once…don’t you!!

We were surprised to see the Emerald Princess docked, we will join her tomorrow:0)
