A throw -

Ready to use at last.

This isn't actually the first throw I have knitted and this one and the one I knit before were bought at the same time.

We were in Whitby some years ago to see the spectacle that is the Goth Weekend. Near the Abbey Steps is an old chapel where you can by wool and other crafts. They specialise in traditional fishermen's sweaters which you can buy made up or buy the traditional yarns to make them. (It is called the Wesley Chapel and is on Church Street - worth the visit if you are in the area.)

I can't remember how long ago this was but to give you some idea the one I bought and knitted is now long gone. I used it over an old swivel chair at my husband's desk in the conservatory which is also now long gone. The problem was that the sun in the conservatory eventually rotted the ribbon yarn in the throw and it started to disintegrate.

This is the one my friend bought. She didn't get on with it and I offered to do it for her but for a while she insisted that she would do it. Eventually she gave it to me with other projects she hadn't done. I came across it when I was having a sort out of my yarn ( the same time I found the chunky yarn I have used to make Grace a jacket), and decided I would make it up for her as a surprise to go with her Christmas present.

Here you can see I have sorted the strands of yarn for the fringing and then the completed throw in the inset. Just need to trim them now.

One good thing about making it is it has kept my knees beautifully warm. Think I might make another for myself!
