Rose and Lily

You now have to use your imagination!

Last night we took Mum to Guardamar to visit the night market, but first we needed to eat. We ended up in a little restaurant that didn't have a wonderful menu, so we decided on chicken, egg and chips (Mum) pork chop, egg and chips (Roy & I). We started speaking Spanish to the owner, little wizened old man, at the end of the meal when we had paid the bill, he came over to us with a pair of nail clippers in one hand and a bottle of cheap aftershave in another. He proceeded to desimate the window box, which was full of dusty plastic flowers. He sprayed the rose and gave it to Mum and he did the same with the lily which he gave to me. This aftershave stank to high heaven. The three of us where trying desperately hard not to laugh, once out of the restaurant we collapsed in a heap laughing. Now imagine walking through the market clutching these two flowers that pong to high heaven and people looking at you and sniffing the air.

I stuck them in the flower pot outside and this morning all I could smell outside the house was this pungent aftershave. Further to this, he gave us a liqueur, which was a type of Baileys, which costs 5 euros from mercadonna, so tomorrow I've got to take the litre bottle of Baileys back to Carrefour, get a refund on it then go to mercadonna to get this other stuff, it will cost me more in time and petrol than the refund, but hey ho, it keeps Mum happy.

Spent 2 hours this morning trailing round the market looking for cheap bracelets, the same as she bought in May, ended up with a pineapple and a melon!!! and no bracelets.
