Victoria
After a long awaited breakfast of waffles, with whipped maple syrup I might add, we went to check out downtown Victoria. Meagan forgot her wallet on the bus yesterday so we spent the better part of the day finding our way to the bus depot to retrieve it. Along the way, wandering by the harbor, admiring all the gorgeous First Nations art on display here, indulging in some sushi, and simply enjoying the sunshine and crowds. Losing ourselves in the day.
In the evening we both geeked out on movies at the local IMAX theatre in town. An educational ancient travel piece documenting the journey to Mecca in the 14th century and then, well just for fun. Star Trek on IMAX (!) Too much fun.
I snapped this shot from a First Nations totem pole jutting out of the green grass of the park outside the museum. I can't put my finger on it exactly but I cannot get enough of the smooth colors, sculpted woodcuts, and primeval symbolism of man and nature intertwined in this art form. The North Pacific Coast embodied.
