Barony A Frame

This is the last remaining part of the Barony Colliery just outside Auchinleck in Ayrshire. It was the main frame which operated the cages up and down the pit. The colliery shut in 1989 and a trust was set up in 1997 to save and restore the frame. It is now a monument to the mining industry and those who worked in it. Well worth a visit (especially when the weather is warmer!!!) as there is loads of information and a picnic area.
