Founded in 1598 by Sir Henry Lee....
This is the original Aylesbury Grammar School as seen from St Mary's Churchyard.
It was founded in 1598 by Sir Henry Lee who was the champion of Queen Elizabeth I.
It was taken over by the County Museum in 1907 when the Grammar School moved to its present site in Walton Road. The old school buildings are still a part of the museum today.
Visited the JC this am & got wrist slapped as I should have signed on on Monday - whoops ! Whilst I was there we had our 1st snow shower. Afterwards I hobbled up to St Marys again & had a look inside, then a wander around the churchyard.
Cold but sunny this afternoon.
