Salton Sea

After work today I took a ride out to the Salton Sea in the desert near Palm Springs. An amazing place which used to be a popular holiday destination in the 60's. Back then the shores were lined with resort towns, holiday makers and speed boats. However the redirection of water from the Colorado river to the coastal cities killed the sea. The lack of feed water increased salinity so the fish died and the tourists stopped coming. Along the shores are ghost towns as the resorts were left to crumble in the desert.
