Gill and I took the train from Stirling (top left) to Edinburgh mid-afternoon in order to attend the preview of the annual Macmillan Art Exhibition, held at Bonhams in Queen Street.

The theme of the exhibition, which raised over £19,000 on the night, was 'Art of Nature' (top right) and featured works in various media by more than 200 artists. There was only one painting that I loved enough to buy, if I'd had the wall space money, and by the time I'd looked at all the pictures and gone back to my favourite, it had been sold!

Gill's daughter, Laura, (bottom right) was one of the many volunteers who helped set up the exhibition and on the night. Laura's husband, Andy, had been roped in as well and did a grand job pouring the wine for the crowds of guests.

Although there was an icy wind, it was a clear dry night and the floodlit castle (bottom left) was looking magnificent as we made our way back to Waverley station for the train home.
