Light(ening) Strike!
Back Blip from yesterday (Wed). I didn't quite get around to completing it.
It started relatively bright, but around 10am, it got dark. Very dark!.
Then it started raining - raining and hailing. Raining and hailing like it was a sand-blasting machine. Quite impressive it was. So much so that the people around the office were beginning to get quite a distracted. Then, completely without warning (as it does) lightening struck the mast that is a short distance outside my window - the tall one the other side the building here..
The flash and bang were about 1/4 second apart. Normally you hear the corona discharge from the lightening rip the air apart with a massive hiss when it's that close, but, the rain and hail was making so much noise we only heard the bang.
Not the closest I've been to a strike - I did about 15 feet many years ago when working at home one afternoon. That day everything went off except the burglar alarms which decided they should all operate - simultaneously. The one at the house that was struck never worked again….
OK, this isn't a lightening strike, but is as close as I could get with the available technology. I do have another idea - you'll have to wait for that!
