Don't Blink!
Don't blink...or you might just miss something special!
Not much camera time today, so this is a bit of a quickie taken during a 30-minute break from work. Was watching the blue jays make runs on the peanut ring when this little white-breasted nuthatch decided to perch in front of me for a quick fluff and a few blinks. Enough time to fire off about 20 quick shots and call it a wrap.
Whte-breasted nuthatches are resident through most of the continental United States are are a common feeder-bird. The name nuthatch refers to the bird's habit of wedging a seed into a crevice and hacking it open. There are 3 other species of nuthatches resident in the US and over 25 throughout the world. The white-breasted nuthatch is monogamous and mated pairs stay together all year.
Don't blink...the holidays are almost upon us!
Back to work for another couple of hours then dinner. Tonight's menu ... barley "risotto" with wild mushrooms. I'm thinking a nice NZ savignon blanc to wash it down...
Don't blink...tomorrow is Friday!
For fun, you may want to have a peek at last year's Blue Jay Blip which was, I think, one of my highest rated posts. What's not to love about flashy wings, eh?
ciao,
Debbi
