The Rock Garden
Son T decided that since it was so hot today, we should go down to the river, which I agreed to as I thought I may just get a photo opportunity.
This part of the river is known as 'The Rock Garden', as during the 1929 Murchison Earthquake, the side of the mountain fell into the river, creating rock gardens. Today these rock gardens are used by kayakers for that rush of adrenaline - this part of the river (and the bit up the river a bit further) are grade 3 plus rapids at medium flow, and grade 4 at high flow.
Fingers crossed that the forecast rain arrives tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday. We desperately need the rain - without it we will be drying cows off and starting to feed out, just to keep the cows milking.
