To Stop and Admire the View

I was out early on my bicycle this morning. My route took me past the foot of this low but prominent hill called Primrose Hill locally, but more properly called Cronk Sumark.

The origins of this name are from the Scandinavian = Skammhyggr meaning "short ridge" That very precisely describes the shape of this hill.

On top of the slightly lower right hand portion of the hill is an Iron Age fort. The earthworks for this must have been the very devil to construct because they are dug in to Manx Slate which is a very hard rock.

The local children slide down the face of the hill on high days and holidays.

This is where a 30X magnification camera would come in handy!
