Wandering the Southern Ocean
Today was our first day of isolation at sea, with no one for company apart from plenty of seabirds - mostly Cape Petrels, Giant Petrels and later on a few Wandering Albatrosses.
We were getting to grips with the rising waves and the new rhythm of life on board for the two or three days that it will take to get to South Georgia. We were also refining our photography skills by rising to the challenge of photographing the birds as our ship was lurching up and down and the birds were soaring effortlessly over the waves.
