Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Zebras !

Half of us were still tired out from yesterday's long drive so opted out of the game DRIVE this morning. It was good to WALK around this beautiful area- there was a salt lick near our tent where we watched several impala harems with one buck. And had a walk to a hide to watch many animals come and go from a watering hole-- lots of zebras, impala, bushbuck, warthogs. These are burchell(?) zebras-there are 3 here blending together- :-) a small family.

This is the 2nd smallest park in Uganda and of course is unfenced and surrounded by farms and livestock so there are livestock killed by wild animals. Some of the farmers are compensated by the government after they ascertain that it really was a lion or whatever that killed their livestock. But many are not given anything so they poison the animals - there is only 1 lion left in the park, but many leopards ( that we never did see). When the cows are herded up in the park the farmers have to pay to get them back. Some improvement in these practices is needed -and being worked on....slowly.

After lunch it was another 5 1/2 hour drive ( some pavement, some dirt) to get to Entebbe where we are right now with Internet! So yea, I'm caught up with back blips! And all packed up .

Thanks again to those that look or comment without getting any feedback from me ! Will fix that when we are home . Tonight Dubai. Wed Seattle.
