berry happy campers

So Friday. Last day of camping. With such beautiful weather we kind of wished there was another day of camping ahead of us before we went to the Big House, but that's always the case isn't it?

It takes so long to get everything packed up and to find a nice spot (if you don't know where you're going) and then to get everything set up and dinner on the go and the beds all sorted and then you unwind and then Arlo's bed time and being a bit worried he won't settle (in actual fact, he was out like a light with absolutely no fuss every single night - even when it was pissing down) and then getting the fire properly going and sitting down and daring-daring-daring to relax and deciding that all is well, and then the first glass of wine and the next and then feeling sleepy and staring into the fire, sighing and saying 'oh, aren't we lucky' many times over.

And then off to bed and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzipping and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzipping the tent and the door to the pod and rustling to get your clothes off and jammies on as fast as possible and snuggling into the sleeping bag without waking the boy and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzipping up the bag and coorying down and feeling the fresh air in your lungs and thinking lovely thoughts about how life is good and then the proper big deep breaths of sleep come and before you know it - it's morning and the day starts all over again.

That all takes a long time.

And then you have to pack it all up into the boot of a car. Pack up the loch, pack up the fire, pack up the sighing and the 'aren't we lucky', pack up the snoozy fire face and the slightly too warm wellies. Pack up the zzzzzzzzzzzipping and the rustling and put them away for another time.

But pack them away we did. And off on our next adventure.
