Slumped

Rusty brown bracken fronds slump in the damp weather, shorter days having triggered the withdrawal of chlorophyll from the fronds, which turn bright yellow and then brown, as they die off for the winter. The little discs on the underside of the fronds are called sori and it these from which the bracken's spores emerge.

The day turned out to be bright and sunny. Although I spent most of it inside at my desk working, the sunshine coming through the window was a definite source of cheer.
