Nothing quite like a bit of practice
Walking down the corridor this morning, on the way to work and I get pulled aside by my Head of Department. "We'd forgotten about Watkins. He can do do it!" Unfortunately our brass teacher is off this week. We're just starting a run of the musical 'Grease' for which a trumpet part is pretty crucial. The Horn isn't too far off I suppose, so I end up spending the next half an hour oiling my beloved Paxman which hasn't been touched since we returned form South Africa 9 months ago. Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted to have the chance, but to go straight into the dress rehearsal without one practice/ run through, even by myself, was pretty interesting. Report writing has been taking up my life of late!
This picture was taken from the confines of a pretty pokey performance tower at the back of the set. I was sitting in front of a very loud trombone player, and ear plugs may well be worn tomorrow! It was a fun night though, and the music can only get better
