I was planning - yes, there is planning... and even some forethought! - to head out to Usher's Island for this one, better know as the setting of Joyce's The Dead. But bizarrely, it doesn't have a number anywhere! Fortunately I spotted this window as I was walking up to take #17...

For the foreigners, there was an small island there in medieval times, before the quays sprung up to contain the Liffey and the name obviously stuck. Much to the benefit of one BBC Ireland correspondent, who famously submitted copious expenses claims for his numerous boat trips there!
