Sniffing the air

As I came out of the woods this morning onto the area of the old Iron age Fort, I surprised one of the cows who looked at me and lifted her head and sniffed the air.

I've seen wild animals do this, scenting the air, but the first time I've seen a domestic cow do it. Once she had satisfied herself we were OK she went back to chewing the cud
