Advent Tomorrow - preparations
Lights of different shapes and sizes have begun appearing in people's windows, and on their trees. Tomorrow is the first Sunday in Advent and that's when all the Christmas lights appear.
It is also the day the shops start "doing" Christmas in Sweden so there'll be new window displays tomorrow and to mark the occasion the shops will be open tomorrow.
So today's blip shows part of our preparations with lights hanging down to the left of our front door. We live away from the world of street lamps so these lights make a real difference.
Tomorrow there's a lot happening. The town will be full of shoppers. The Lions organisation provides a Jultomten (Swedish Christmas elf) and small present for any children passing by (lots do!), and an Xmas flea market. Norrdans (a dance company based here) will be putting on their traditional offering, doing three or four dances in their own shop windows while the public stand outside and watch. They'll be a lot of stamping of feet and waving of arms to stay warm. I'll be in the Lions tent serving mulled wine (non-alcoholic) to the parents as the children meet Jultomten!
Lots to blip - I wonder what I'll choose?
