Moving day
This AM I woke up in a room too small to accommodate me and a young cat. This evening I'm in a 'budget' hotel which charges four times as much but doesn't offer a kettle. We live in a mixed up world.
In the interim; Rowan travelled to Manchester to see her grandmother and while she was doing that I went to The Lowry for a coffee and wandered round the Quays taking shots. This is Salford Wharf with IWM North to the left and the The Lowry hidden by the Designer Outlet. The sun reflecting on the windows is a bonus and darkens the sky. I took this from the Holiday Inn which is somewhere I've not been before.
Then to the hospital with the surprise package and a lovely chat with mum. After a snoozle and a shower we headed into town. Manchester hosted the Rugby League World Cup today (or Trafford did) and combined with the usual weekend traffic town was rammed. We walked through the Christmas market but it was no fun and queued for the only restaurant that seemed to offer a chance if getting in.
And then the good stuff. My daughter and I enjoyed a beer in The Britons Protection and then The Pev. I've been going in this boozer for nearly 40 years and I don't think it's changed a great deal; certainly not as much as I have. In fact if it had it would sprawl across much of St Peter's Square...... Both blokey pubs but it's not my fault that she's not a bloke ;-)
We're back at the hotel now. I have a bottle of pear cider and instructions that my child will not be ready before 10am. I may get some canal photos before then. We'll call and see mum before heading south.
Technical stuff: Shot as a jpg on camera and transferred to tablet using a card reader and USB lead. Resized in PS Touch but otherwise unedited.
PS - This is Ben's manor - follow him to see how this part of God's acre should be treated.
