Poorly babba :-(
I woke at 4am to Eva making like a moaning noise on the monitor. Poor baby when I walked in to her room, she had been sick all in her cot, all her roast chicken dinner was around her and all stuck in her hair and had made her cold. I woke Mike up to help me, as her clean sheet was downstairs in the tumble drier and I had nowhere to put her while I changed her bedding. Mike changed the bedding while I sat her on some sponge in the shower and washed her down. Silly me had put the mattress in the cot upside down, so the bit that you zip off that goes in the washing machine, which would have been ideal last night, was on the underneath, leaving it very difficult to clean and get dry, I was so annoyed at myself. My poor baby girl though.... I noticed some spots over her tummy and a few on her back as I put her to bed last night, now she had been sick and was obviously feeling very poorly... her temperature was 37.5, so I put her back into her clean bed without any milk, and she went back off to sleep. She woke again at 8, so I pulled her straight into bed with us to give her some milk, she had a big feed, but within minutes she'd brought the whole feed back up all over our bed. She really was a poorly bit. She was dithering too as if she was cold. So rather than wait til tomorrow when the doctors is open, I decided to take her off to the walk in centre in Selly Oak. We waited nearly 2 hours and Eva just sat quiet on my lap with her head rested against me the whole time, apart from when she seemed to perk up and give the man sitting behind us some very cute smiles. Eventually we were called in and I was very impressed with the doctor.. He explained that the spots were not anything to worry about and explained what spots you get with different illnesses, he could see how worried I was obviously. He said they're probably viral and if they blister in the next day or so, it's chicken pox, but could just be a virus. Her temperature by this stage was 38.8, her ears, throat and chest were all fine. He told me to give her calpol, ensure she kept around 200ml of fluids down by 6 pm, else take her to the children's hospital if she couldn't...but not to worry. He was a lovely man and I really appreciated the time he took ruling everything out and explaining it all to me, despite his full waiting room.
Eva just sat quietly with me for most of the afternoon, and I gave her 5 minutes of milk every now and again, which touch wood, she has kept down. She had two 40 minute sleeps, and by late afternoon, she was up for playing with some of her toys, so I sat on the floor with her and read her some books and played with her, and she even munched on 3 breadsticks and some toast.
Mike and Jake put the Christmas tree up whilst I sat with Eva, and we had Christmas songs playing on the tv. It looks lovely.
My dad called round aswell, but only saw Eva briefly as I put her down for her 2nd little nap as she was so so tired.
She had a bigger feed after her bath tonight, and touch wood, has kept it down. I really hope she's over the worst of it now. Typically enough, Mike has been feeling rough since the other day too, and really pants today, so he wonders if they've had a similar bug. Let's hope they're both feeling better tomorrow, it's really upset me seeing her feel so poorly xxxx
