Jade Plant

This is a kind of Jade Plant that here at home is an indoor plant, though they are quite hardy. In the hotel gardens, they plant them surrounded by volcanic boulders to protect them from the winds. You can see there is no soil as we know it, more like gravel from the pulverised rock. Very bad at holding water, giving rise to cacti and succulent gardens which can be attractive in their own right.
