"The Rotunda" ...

...It's rather a nice little Rotunda to sit and have a spell in, right in the centre plantation of our main Avenue into the town..

...Hardly noticeable among the gum trees there, it appears to be well used, especially on a warm day, and for a bit of a chat among the locals..

...Apparently built after 1913 in memory of one of the Councillors who resided in this area from 1890 and died in 1913..

...It's nice to be remembered in this way, some of my own family were town Councillors and Mayors, in years gone by in my home town, and one of my cousins during the 1st WW later had a Rotunda built in his memory - he was 20 years old..

...Unfortunately, years later, the Main Roads Dept decided to pull it down because it interfered with the vision of traffic at the time, due to changes to the roads there, but it was never replaced, even though the Council at that time apparently tried hard to have it relocated...
