Dead Bee

While I was inspecting the outside of the hives, this bee came out & promptly died. The mass deaths continue, mainly now the middle hive but there is still a pleasant buzzing sound coming from inside.

The bee doesn't look in bad shape, the wings not frayed. MrB mentioned on a very bad mobile connection that we needed to do a varoa mite treatment this month. So one thought it might be they are weakened by the mites. In the photo one can see a white lump next to the bee - I can't see anything on it that makes it look like a living being. There are quite a few similar, mainly amber coloured lumps around the entrance and at the front of the hive floor but again couldn't identify any legs/limbs or similar and assume they are "refuse" of some sort.
