WhitFUNdays Day 2: Blue Lagoon
If you could describe the perfect holiday, I'm pretty sure it would sound like our day today. This is what I've been waiting months for!
We were all up early again this morning, partly because of the heat and partly because of the time difference. It didn't matter, though - we woke to perfect weather and had breakfast on our balcony overlooking the Coral Sea and the various islands of the Whitsundays. Did I mention it was perfect?
After breakfast we headed down to the Lagoon, which is the closes thing Airlie Beach has to an actual beach (a bit of false advertising, there). It was actually really nice - a huge pool with sand around it and lots of people chilling and swimming in the sunshine. We spent a very nice morning there before finding an awesome cafe for lunch. We grabbed some groceries on the way back up the mountain and basically settled in for the afternoon.
We spent a lot of time in the pool and then more time by the pool reading and sun baking and then headed back to our room (which is all of ten metres from the pool, woo!) to drink wine and chat on the balcony. I took a lot of photos and all of us drank a bit too much before dinner, but we did eventually eat and it was such a lovely evening that no one really minded.
I took this on a disposable camera that I bought this morning - it's actually one of my favourite photos, more so than some of the ones taken on my actual camera. Phoebe and Julia look like celebrities, and everything is just so blue - it gives you a glimpse of how beautiful this place is!
