WhitFUNdays Day 7: Homeward Bound

Sadly, seven days of holiday fun had to come to an end at some point and today was our final day in the lovely Airlie Beach.

I was actually awake early enough to watch the sun rise over the mountain next to our mountain this morning. The other days I've been awake early enough it's been overcast, but this morning I finally got to see it. I took some photos but as it was 5:45 in the morning they...are not great. I think I was still half asleep, and I went straight back to bed once the sun was properly up!

We all had to get up fairly early to finish packing and cleaning. Check out was at 10:00 so we somehow got our bags down to reception and then headed down into town to hang around for a few hours. We headed to a cafe we went to on our first day and basically stayed there for three hours, having morning tea and lunch. We had a little mooch along the main street afterwards and ended up in this lovely boutique that could have easily been in Fitzroy or somewhere else in Melbourne.

All too soon it was time to climb the mountain one last time and get our airport transfer to Proserpine and hop on the plane down to Brisbane. Our flight was running a little bit late, which led to a frantic dash through Brisbane Airport but we made the flight to Melbourne and, impressively, so did our luggage. It was weird getting off the plane in Melbourne after over a week away, but we were met by Julia's mama who drove us home and had food and water for us, so that was really nice.

What an amazing week it's been! Can't wait for the next beach holiday - Fiji, anyone?

Four out of eight of my holiday blips have come from my disposable camera so I'm really pleased with how well they turned out!
