Shock Horror - Giant Insect Terrorises Quiet Town!

Today's pic is nowhere near as easy to look upon as my last few have been. I spotted this bug (and have tried without success to identify it) on a Monstera deliciosa (cheese plant) growing in someone's fron garden in town. It's around 6cm in length at a guess. Any Aussie insect experts out there?

THANKS to knowledgeable Blippers, I now know it is a Cicada beginning to emerge from its pupal casing. I do like the sound they make.
