Casualty...

...of Thursday's storm. One of several along the lane from Blackadder Lodge. When it was still standing, this appeared to be a strong, healthy tree. Now it's apparent that the inside had rotted and was full of decayed matter (it looked like soil).

We were on our way to the river to see if we could spot an otter and its cub that a neighbour has seen there. No luck on this occasion, though we did see a deer in the field on the way there and a large heron stalking something in the same field on the way back
