This is the ruins of a 17th century church at a pueblo on the East Side of the Manzano Mountains. The whole area was abandoned in the 1670's. The ruins are stark. The area is beautiful and there is an arroyo that runs thru the site fed by a natural spring. The pup and I had a wonderful hike. As I get older, I find myself fascinated by the archaeology of New Mexico, something I gave up when my kids were born for the more lucrative field of statistics and computers. I find it enthralling at this point in my life, just as computers and stats were in my late 20's.
Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument
Today, I give thanks for the day I was given, learning that brings joy, stats and computers that paid the bills for years and archaeology to interest me in my "old age".
