Waterland.

Up early (for a Saturday) and a hearty brekkie followed by a trip to Essex Wildlife Trust's Fingringhoe (teehee) Wick nature reserve. It's a mixed saltmarsh, broadleaved woodland and fen reserve.
One Kingfisher, one Hen Harrier, one Great Egret, some Red-Breasted Mergansers, Curlews, Sandpipers, Herons and, joyously, a Reed Warbler later we toddled off home dead happy.
This place will be visited again and again. Simply stunning.
