Schlumbergera

Wow, that's a mouthful! For Most of us this is a Christmas Cactus or the Thanksgiving Cactus, Crab Cactus or the Holiday Cactus...since they bloom around those holidays in the Northern Hemisphere. They are native to the coastal mountains of south-eastern Brazil where they are called Flor de Maio since they bloom in May, in the Southern Hemisphere. Depending on the cultivar, they flower in white, pink, yellow, orange, red or purple.

Schlumbergera is very easy to propagate...just stick cuttings in loamy soil and protect them from Squirrels!

I'm going to call them Holiday Cactus going forward. I like the name and believe that it's more correct appropriate!
