Knit one, purl one

Here it is, my first attempt at knitting! I'm quite proud of my little (almost) square :-)

Pootled around trying (and failing) to pick up last bits of Christmas presents today. There are two people for whom I've absolutely no idea what to get - they're both men (no surprise there eh) one of them's my brother. I've made it easy for him - here's my amazon list, I'd love anything on it!!

I may just knit him a very very small scarf. Quite possibly more of a coaster...
