Osier at Work

Osier is a word which describes the Salix, or common Wllow. Common in these parts as it grows quite freely all over the place, finding the generally damp Irish climate very much to its liking.
Osier is also used to describe those who bend the twigs of the willow into decorative pieces, baskets, planters etc. This lady was plying her craft at a Christmas Craft fair we attended today. She demonstrated amazing dexterity, bending and twisting the twigs into the most intricate of shapes and never once making a mistake. Admirable work.
