Santa Special from Northiam drifting to Wittersham
Poor old Susan. While I was away at the railway she was working hard at home - she went to the allotment to shift manure fortunately to find it had already been done and some put on our plot. Then she came home to clear up our own garden before finishing off some presents for her granddaughter and great nieces followed by a trip up to Doreen's to do a bit of dusting and putting up her decorations. There may have been other things as well, but that's all I can recall!
Meanwhile I was down on the railway at Wittersham signalling through the Santa Specials. I wasn't able to do much owning to the state of my knee but the inspectors thought it would be a good idea to keep my hand in owing to the long winter break that stretches from January til the end of March this year.
It was a glorious winter's day, Sunny with some light clouds, little wind and quite mild. And an easy day in the box. The trains all used the through line, there was no stopping or crossing so minimal lever pulling for the poor old signalman who had to do it instead of me.
The sun sets almost at the end of the bank and cutting up Hexden Bank at this time of the year. And while I was able to take some interesting shots of the sunset and signalbox at Wittersham and the yard at Rolvenden in the dark, this shot caught my eye. Hope you like it.
