Common Crossbill

As there are continuing reports of up to 8 of the very rare Two-Barred Crossbills from Siberia in our area, I thought I'd have another go at tracking them down. No joy I'm afraid, but there were at least quite a lot of Common Crossbills around. This female was one of the few who came down a little bit closer - most of them were feeding very high in the treetops. She clearly doesn't like being called Common, and is looking cross down her bill at me.
Nearly forgot to mention - we had a Peacock Butterfly in the garden today. What a funny old year it's been!
