Another transformation

and another Desperation Blip. At least I remembered to take the camera with me when I went to the gym today - I know there won't be many other blip opportunities, unless it's at a Christmas concert tonight.

Barrioboy and digitaldaze aren't going to recognize their local padaria - another ugly duckling that has turned into something approaching a swan. Hope the refit won't adversely affect the quality of its products.

Had to seek further consolation at the gelataria yesterday evening, after taking a beating from the returned laptop all day (what a way to spend a sunny Sunday in Rio)! We were rewarded by a long chat with the owner. I commented that he was looking harassed, and he confessed it was because he was running out of ice-cream (at 11-ish at night). He saw it as a grievous shortcoming, rather than a sign of his success. He came over from Italy one year before HH, as a carefree young bachelor, came from the UK, so we were swapping stories of residents long-deceased (mostly happy memories, though).
