By Himself

By Himself

Grey

A very grey day with no light.

This is an ornamental sculpture made by a local blacksmith. There are versions of it at each side of our townland. I don't mind the sculpture itself, but its placement and the treatment of the surrounding area is annoyingly inept, in my opinion. It looks more like something one would find in a corner of an urban park instead of in front of a breathtaking view down Dunmanus Bay, and it is surrounded by imported grey road gravel when there are attractively coloured beach pebbles available just below it.

EDIT - I intend no criticism of the sculptor - just the way his work has been handled by others.
