Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam
This is the municipal theatre of Amsterdam with flags and posters for a tribute to Nelson Mandela that will be held tomorrow.
Amsterdam has had organized theatre groups since the 16th century and in the 17th century they also had a theatre building. The location has moved and changed over the years as larger buildings were needed. When the previous theatre building located at Leidseplein burnt down in 1890, this neo-Renaissance style building was constructed on the site and opened in 1894.
