Those Cliff Houses . . . . .
. . . . . . . they're coming down, being demolished. They've been red-zoned and red-stickered ever since the February 2011 quakes, but the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority released a long-awaited re-zoning last week, giving the final (we all hope) verdict on land and housing status. These cliff houses have of course retained their red status and are now being demolished.
I've blipped these before, looking up from the beach. You can see this house in this image, between the two Norfolk Pines, to the right of centre.
I've come back home to have a wine and a few tears. It just socks it all home again. I'm so pleased my neighbour is coming down for a meal soon :) Will be so nice to have a chat about it all - again! (Just for interest's sake - the cliffs are now about 170m away from our houses and they used to be 200m. Quite a lot of cliff fell away.)
