Saved by the sunset
I thought today was the day when I wasn't going to get an image. It dawned grey, it was windy and wet all day and resolutely stayed grey. Not that gentle soft feathery grey but a real gunmetal harsh grey.
The extent of my activity was to go down to Ashburton to the excellent butchers and bakers - and there is even a candle-stick maker that went unvisited. I can never resist buying game and so came back with two pigeons, four pheasant breasts and six partridge breasts. The bakers is exceptional and worth visiting just for the smells that assail you as you open the door.
Either way the light was petering out at dusk when suddenly a shaft of colour appeared and the photo above was taken just before it got dark. Another day blipped if only just.
Tonight is the monthly Buckland Soup Club evening when nearly the whole village meet in one lucky person's house for some food and drink. It started as a consequence of the village not having a pub to act as a social focus and has been running for several years now. Quite glad that David and Gill hadn't agreed to host this one and left us with it. We look forward to seeing how it goes - hopefully we know enough of the locals already for it not to seem like walking into a room of strangers.
