More displays, this time at Dobbies

It's been a recurring theme during this year - displays. A couple of shop windows, a seed display, a set of paintings, all the beans on sale in Tesco, a couple of shots from Hobbycraft and now this at Dobbies where we were to buy my Christmas presents and have a coffee and scone.

These plaques are the in thing at the moment, with their pithy and witty(?) comments. I don't mind them if there has been some craft behind them, using, for example, old wood or recycled objects. We went to see an artists' exhibition up in Pittenween in Fife a couple of years ago and there were some very interesting pieces with scenes painted onto old driftwood scavenged from the beach. But I object to mass produced stuff printed on high density fibre board and imported from China.

Which, incidentally, was from where most of the Christmas stuff I saw for sale in Dobbies had come from. Including most of the gardening tools.

In the end I'm getting a fork, a hoe, some secateurs, a plastic trug and some gloves for Christmas.
