River Len in Mote Park
A very busy day today, but no less enjoyable for that. A lovely morning so we went out for our constitutional before the rush set in. This is the River Len as it flows into Mote Park. We are so fortunate to live just by this superb park and can easily get there by walking.
At this bridge there was a dog jumping into the water time after time to fetch a stick that his owner kept throwing back into the water. On the other side of the bridge we've seen hundreds of fish, of all different sizes, collected in shoals and no heron in sight.
The walk ended at Tesco where we collected a few final items for tonight's dinner party. There were 10 of us round our place for dinner. These are good friends from my time at Woodlands (later called Gillingham Community College - now shut) from 1995-2000. During my time there we formed a walking group which still hobbles around today albeit with a much smaller turnout owning to age and people moving away. But we are all going to Cornwall in May to reconvene after our trip to Northumberland in June 2013 and May 2012 (and Sedburgh 1995).
We've had them around the last few Christmases and a good time was had by all. It's made a bit easier by each couple bringing something to the table. We did the main course (Shepherds Pie) and Irene made a soup, Lynda brought 2 puddings so did Suzie. Debs bought loadsa cheese. Started eating at about 7.45 and finally finished around 11.30! A great evening of conversation and banter.
