Winning again

The pace has not let up today (a bit like the wild weather) and I have hardly been outside.

Anyway, continuing yesterday's theme, this is from my mother's photo album - little me receiving a prize for winning something at Sports Day. I don't know who the smart lady and gentleman are but the woman in the centre is Miss Read, the Headmistress whose school it was. She was a good person and I liked her a lot.

"Never slow down at the finish - Run right through the tape" they told me. So I always did, but one Sports Day the lady holding the tape, with the other end tied firmly to a post, didn't let go and I was nearly decapitated! A fierce red burn across my throat was slavered in butter and a lot of fuss was made. "Stupid Woman" said my mother.
